How to Test the Atomization Effect of the New Auto Spray Gun?

Auto spray gun is a device that uses liquid or compressed air to quickly release as power. It can be used to spray various coatings such as water-based paint, primer and topcoat. Next, we will tell you how to test the atomization effect of the new auto spray gun.

Ⅰ. Wrong atomization test methods of auto spray gun

Wrong atomization test method No. 1: use volatile solvents (thinners) to test auto spray gun.

Volatile solvents have low boiling points. After being atomized by the spray gun, a part of it has volatilized and there is not much solvent sprayed on the spray web test paper at the end, so the test result cannot be accurately obtained. Moreover, during the atomization process of the thinner material, the fog seen is relatively erratic and unstable.

Correct method: spray directly with paint.

Wrong atomization test method No. 2: judge the atomization effect of the auto spray gun with eyes.

Affected by air flow, viewing angle and light, it is actually impossible to visually see whether the atomization effect of the spray gun is normal by direct observation with eyes.

Correct method: The spray gun should be aimed at the spray pattern test paper during the test and the atomization effect should be judged by the shape of the spray pattern.

Wrong atomization test method No. 3: test auto high quality spray gun with incorrect spray air pressure.

If the spraying air pressure is high, the spray pattern will be deformed. The spray pattern tested is in the shape of "8". The ends of the spray pattern are large and the middle is small. If the spray pressure is low, the paint cannot be fully atomized. The spray width is small and the paint is concentrated.

Correct method: The spray gun should be adjusted according to the parameters recommended in the spray gun box during the test. The atomization test should be carried out under the recommended air pressure and distance.

Wrong atomization test method No. 4: test the spray pattern with water of industrial paint spray gun.

The viscosity of water (about 11 sec/DIN4) is lower than that of paint. If the normal spray pressure test is used, the ends of the spray pattern will be large and the middle will be small.

Correct method: Testing directly with paint is the best way. If it only allows to test the spray pattern with water, reduce the spray pressure to half the recommended spray pressure.

Ⅱ. Correct and complete test methods of atomization effect of auto spray gun

1. Adjust the spray pressure and distance according to the parameters recommended at the bottom of the auto spray gun packaging box.

2. Adjust the paint volume and spray width of the spray gun to the maximum. The spray gun and the spray pattern test paper are at a 90° angle, and the trigger is pulled to the bottom for about 2 seconds.

3. Check whether the shape of the spray pattern sprayed by the auto spray gun on the test paper is normal.
